King Me: This week's Peter King fantasy picks...

(Peter King's tips from his Fantasy Plus column on cnnsi.com are in black)

1. It sounds silly, but blocking back Heath Evans, who has had but nine carries this year, could get a few Sunday. The Pats thinks they can manhandle the Indy front. Evans is the biggest body they have. Wouldn't be surprised to see him score a touchdown in this game.

What really sounds silly is that Peter wouldn't be surprised if Evans got some carries and scored...well, if THAT wouldn't surprise you, Peter, then NOTHING will ever catch you off guard...except maybe this.....SURPRISE...Evans didn't get a touch, let alone a touchdown...

2. Marvin Harrison in the two playoff games vs. New England when he was manhandled by Rodney Harrison: eight catches, 63 yards, no touchdowns. If you have two great receivers other than Marvin, I would sit him this week.

Marvin Harrison in the one game vs. New England when he made Peter King look like a dipshit for suggesting that he shouldn't be on your starters list: 145 yards and 2 TDs...if you have a retarded little brother or know a chimp that speaks sign language, take their tips over Peter's next week...

3. Trade Byron Leftwich while he's still got a little value. If David Garrard wins this week at home against Tennessee, he'll be the Jacksonville quarterback.

Ok, we explained in a previous post why this pick is bullshit (short version: because he said the EXACT opposite last week). Last week Peter said don't fall into the Garrard trap...that Leftwich was gonna be the starter for the remainder of the season...this pick is bullshit because Garrard started...so, basically this is like saying to someone over the phone that you have never seen: "I bet you have a nose"...anyway, Garrard tossed 3 TD's...I think we may have stumbled upon the King Principle: If you are wrong last week...and the team announces a change which further makes your advice look like shit...just make your pick and pretend last week never happened.

4. Kellen Winslow is an excellent play this week at San Diego, and not because he's fired up to play in his dad's old stadium. San Diego will rush Charlie Frye hard, and he won't time to throw much downfield. He'll be looking for Winslow all day.

Winslow had 11 catches...most in the second half...so, he wasn't looking for him ALL day, cause the first half is part of the day, right?...But, this is a fantasy tip...and Winslow had 78 yards and no TDs...not exactly a blockbuster day for fantasy points...

5. Joey Harrington has a history of misery in Chicago. Do not play a single Dolphins skill player.

Well, Harrington tossed 3 Tds...and won...not exactly a miserable existance. Ron Brown: 29 carries for 157...umm, running backs are skill players, right?...nicely done, Peter...

6. Ever hear of Owen Daniels? Rookie tight end for Houston. Leads all NFL tight ends with five touchdowns. Converted college quarterback. I like him at the Meadowlands against the Giants, because David Carr is going to get chased all over New Jersey and will need quick-strike options. That's Daniels, who will give Giants linebackers a matchup problem.

Nope, haven't heard of Owen Daniels...and after his 3 catches for 34 yards and no TDs...I still haven't heard of him...apparently the only matchup problem here was Peter matching up his tip with a correct outcome...

7. Jon Kitna's going to have a huge day. I see 100 yards and a touchdown in Mike Furrey's future.

A squirrel may have found a nut...Kitna 321 yards and a TD...but, again, not a huge fantasy points day...Peter, check those tea leaves again: Mike Furrey 72 yards and no TDs...I guess our squirrel only found half a nut...

8. Take a page from the Tom Brady book and play Alex Smith, at home, against the Vikings. Minnesota is traveling and disheartened, playing on a short week two time zones away.

Peter, please put that page back in the book it belongs...Smith: 105 yds and 0 Td and 1 INT...

9. Jamal Lewis is getting revved up. The Bengals are on the ropes, 1-3 in their last four games. Brian Billick will run Lewis all day.

Rev 'em up...but don't put him in overdrive...Lewis: 72 yards and 1 TD...not bad, but not exactly running him all day...

10. You've all given up on Lee Evans. I probably would have too. But I'm told by someone in Buffalo who knows that Evans is going to be very big Sunday against Green Bay. Play him if you've got him.

Oh....sounds like Peter has some real insider info here...sweet...and it played to the tune of 58 yards and 1 TD...not a bad day...but "very big"?...I think Peter was talking about his ass...next time you are ready to give up...PLEASE throw in the towel.

Apparently Peter King wasn't the only one who'd heard of the rookie tight end for the Texans. I had to find a TE for my team on Saturday night and the great espn edge insight told me that the Texans tight end would have a decent day. So I chose the Texan guy over the Washington TE who was avaialbe as well. The result, 3 points for my guy and the guy I passed on had 2 tds. Cap that with Brady giving me a -1 with his 4 picks and not realizing Burress was out with back problems, gave me my worst week yet.

btw, off-topic .. just stumbled across this blog today and have read many of the previous posts. I like the commentary it's well thought out.
